A Google employee in her 20% 'free' time had created an extension for Google Chrome to allow you to do just that.

Ain't it awesome or what?

Cocky and Arrogant BlogShop

Here's a true experience that one of et's colleague, H, went through. H is quite fond of shopping online, as there are some items that blogshops can offer lower prices than the traditional boutique stores and shopping malls.


Take a look at the exchange of messages between H and that particular blogshop owner.

Remembered I said I ordered a legging from some online shop named http://the bend and snap.blogspot.com  on Wednesday?

She told me to take size L so I did. I told her to do a COD on Thursday at oneU anytime from 9am - 6pm. Then I'll hand her the money on the spot.

And she never show up or sms so I emailed her yesterday at 5 sth.. n her reply was like this:

if tom can ? are u working in boutique ?

 Then I never reply liao. Too much, she thought I sit here waiting for her all day ar?

 This morning, she sent me this sms:

Her: Babe, cn I just post it? I think I dn have time to cod atm. So busy with final work. :)

Me: Hey, just cancel it. Don't want anymore. Gd luck in final.

Her: Ok. Ur name and details will be banned n put in back out byers list. Thanx

Me: Excuse me, u were the one who backed out from the COD trade . Have some business ethic.

Her: Im a office working person ok. Back out COD never listed in trade matter. Anyway, I think bttr you cancel it cz I dn have XL and L size atm. It just wasting my time to find it. Thanx

Me: Well you just ruined a business and your reputation. Dun promise if u cant make it, glad I didn't buy it from ya. Have a nice day.

Her: I dnt thnk so. Stil many buyers waiting for my service. Thanx too. Daa

Wordpress vs Blogger. Which is better?

For many who was interested in starting their own blog, the question had been which blog host is better. There are plenty of options out there now. Wordpress, Blogger, Tumblr and many more.
However, looking at just Wordpress and Blogger. Which one is better?


Having used both sites now, this is what I think.


Blogger
Less structured as Wordpress. Beginners usually "gets it" straightaway when all one needs to do is just post blogs. And when the beginners begin evolving into intermediate level and start looking at Search Engine Optimization, Javascript, etc., then they'll find the ability to customize their template is a really powerful Blogger feature. But of course, not everyone is bothered with SEO


Wordpress
More structured than Blogger. Have a distinction between Page and Post. When a blogger starts a new blog in Wordpress, the blogger should spend some time doing the initial planning on how the blog structure will be like. Once that's done, then there's nothing much else to do but to blog posts. Wordpress takes care of the 'googlejuice' factor. But for those who uses the Wordpress.com hosting service, they will find that Wordpress imposes a lot of restrictions as in, no Javascript, no embedded form etc. No such restrictions if you have your own host, and installed Wordpress into the host.


Conclusion:
Wordpress is better for beginners, especially after some initial thought and planning.
Blogger is better for intermediate level bloggers, as they can customize to their hearts content.
Wordpress probably edges it in advanced level, as their structured blog holds more 'googlejuice' in the long run.

Facebook down again for second time this month

From this part of the world where we are, it seems that Facebook has gone down. This will be its second outage in this month, the first on August 7th which was attributed to massive DOS (Denial-of-Service) attacks which also brought down the Twitter network.

This time, no clue yet on the cause of the outage. Here’s one the first site to report on the outage, and its advice for Netizens starved of their usual Facebook fix.

Spyware Terminator disabled ALL network function

Recently due to a weird problem of the mouse cursor moving by itself on et’s laptop, we installed the program Spyware Terminator from download.com.

Initially things were ok. No spyware found. Only thing was the irritating alert notices for even the most innocent network activity such as when BOINC initiates some network activity.

However things turned nasty last week. Spyware Terminator gave its usual cryptic alert notice of a potential change related to winsock. Not sure of what the alert is all about, she proceeded to allow Spyware Terminator to Deny the action. That’s when all hell broke loose.

Firstly VNC went down. Then all browsers became useless. Followed by Skype. Lastly, even the network icon at the Taskbar has an ‘X’ to it. Total and complete network loss…

Somehow there was no way to undo the action done by Spyware Terminator even though their website mentioned that it can be done.

Performing System Restore did not help solve the issue as the message was that System Restore could not restore the system completely. Hmm ….. which renders the System Restore a rather moot Windows feature then.

Winsock has a really wide reach. With winsock blocked/disabled by Spyware Terminator, most things just refuse to work. Almost all Microsoft-related programs can’t start, and that includes Help and diagnostic. Even the Hewlett Packard PC Advisor couldn’t start.

In the end, she found one thing that worked. The solution was to reset the winsock.

With the command line netsh winsock reset , everything miraculously resumed service! The command was found at this page. It only works with Vista and XP SP2. Others will need extra steps in order to achieve the same effect.

So with all that she had been through, the first thing to do after the system had returned to normal was to uninstall the Spyware Terminator. ‘Nuff said on it. Bye bye Spyware Terminator.

Excellent parody on MACC and Malaysia’s BN government

There is an outstanding video clip that parodies the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on its recent debacle in the tragic death of Teoh Beng Hock.

The video clip which can be found in youtube has now attracted close to 130,000 views and the view count is still increasing.

I could be mistaken, but me thinks the video clip uses excerpts from the movie Valkyrie, which starred Tom Cruise among others, and the added subtitles are referring to the current hottest news item in Malaysia. Whoever had done this, was brilliant as the story perfectly correlates the tension seen in the movie.

Many laugh-out-loud moments in the movie, most especially the part where the lady purportedly said “don’t worry, we still have Khir Toyo” …. hahahaha.

Good PDF suite, with freeware, payware and free online tools

For times when some PDF documents are needed to be converted to Office documents such Word or Excel, I find that nitroPDF’s family of online PDF tools are very useful. Just like Acrobat, nitroPDF’s software also enable the whole range of tools for PDF files.

I’m in no ways whatsoever related to nitroPDF. Am just a satisfied user of their online PDF tools, which IMO is one of the best out there.

Necessary Blogger updates

Although seeming to lack updates since last week, actually there had been changes to this blog site in the background. Mostly the changes are to rectify the problems of duplicate meta description and duplicate title tags. In other words, each and every post has the same description and same post title. Google’s Webmaster tool had been highlighting the problems for a long time.

While the problems are not much of a worry for a personal blog site, it is an irritating thing to have to constantly see issues being highlighted by Google Webmaster tool. And even more irritating that Blogger do not have a simple method to rectify the issues.

So, finally decided to tackle the issue. Went to search for solutions for the problems of duplicate meta description and duplicate title tags. Found and implemented the solutions. But will have to wait for the Google index to slowly reflect those updates over time.

There are plenty of sites out there offering solutions for the problems. One only needs to go look, and get a little bit comfy with manually edit the template page. 

Test post with Windows Live Writer

Decided to create new Windows Live account for use at work. Incredibly, my first choice of the username for the new account is still available. Surprising, since Live had been around for some time.

Selected the option to download Windows Live Writer while customizing for the download of Windows Live Messenger.

At first look, seems relatively bare-bones. Hopefully it could ultimately entice me into long term usage.

Besides this post, I’m also trying out the map insert feature that comes with the program. I’ll select the map of Taiwan since I’ll blog about the recent Taiwan trip soon.

Best Job in the World?

The Aussies sure are a publicity-seeking lot.
With a movie ("Australia") whose title is corny to the max still making its way round the globe, here's another PR campaign from Down Under.
Only, this time it comes in the form of a job.

Australia's Tourism Queensland is offering a six-month contract job on Hamilton Island. The person that gets hired for the job will have the chance to live rent-free on Hamilton Island in a multi-million oceanfront villa and whose key responsibilities include exploring the islands of Great Barrier Reef and other job duties such as feeding the fish, cleaning the pool, and collect the mail.

Salary? A nice, cool sum of AUD150,000 !
